The story behind the idea

I'm constantly on the move — I work remotely and travel not just a few times a year, but several times a month. And every time, accommodation ends up being the biggest hit to my budget. I wanted to find rental options without markups or middlemen — something as accessible as staying with friends. That's how the idea for TrueStay was born: a platform not built for profit, but for making travel more frequent and affordable, by renting and offering homes at fair, honest prices.

Pricing tips for your listing

To keep housing accessible and make frequent travel possible, it’s essential that rental prices stay significantly lower than on major booking platforms.

If you're renting a place yourself

Price = (Monthly rent ÷ Number of days in the month) × Number of nights stayed

If you're the owner

Use the average market monthly rate for your apartment (also known as the long-term rate) as a reference — then just apply the same formula.

Security deposit

We recommend holding a small amount as a security deposit in case of minor damage (calculate it as the daily rate × 1–3 days).
